A PASSION FOR PEOPLE

Sarah McKenzie received the Maddox and Hilda Farha Scholarship in 2000, which she graduated from Black Point High. 

"Without this financial support and the boost in confidence that came with it, I would not be where I am today. My passion for helping people came alive when I received the scholarship. I am now in my seventh year as a Registered Nurse at Black Point Medical Center, and I couldn't be more grateful." 

Maddox and Hilda Farha are just as grateful. "Watching this young woman succeed has changed our lives," Hilda says. "Making this gift has enriched our lives beyond description."

No challenge too great

Noah Pinkman understands hardship. He was homeless from the age of 8 until he was placed in foster care at age 11. Thanks to the Betty Rowland Scholarship Fund at the foundation, Noah was supported through middle school and high school by a tutor. The fund also paid for his college education, living expenses, and a tutor for his engineering classes.

Noah is now a rocket scientist. "Thanks to the scholarship," he said, "I learned that no challenge is too great. I apply that philosophy to my work every day. Actually, multiple times each day!" natural born leader

Henrietta Evodance has always had a knack for getting things done. She was a straight A student throughout her entire elementary school, middle school, and high school career. Henrietta dreamed of attending an Ivy League institution and becoming a CEO of a publicly-traded company, but her family lacked the financial means to fund her dream. Henrietta applied for the Breezetree Linens Scholarship for Outstanding Academic Achievement, a corporate scholarship fund at the foundation. She is now the CEO of Professional Focus Agendas LLC, a publicly-traded software firm in Boston. "The scholarship changed my life," Henrietta says. "I think about it every day."
